What happens if a Renter abandons their items?

Useful info for Hosts in case a Renter abandons their items in the Host's space

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Step 1: Let Us Know

As soon as you suspect items have been abandoned, please get in touch with our team (support@stashbee.com). We’ll ask you to send clear photos of the space showing the Renter’s items still inside. This helps us document the situation and move forward with next steps.

Step 2: Listing Items for Auction

Once confirmed, we’ll arrange for the items to be listed on iBidOnStorage, an auction site we partner with. This process usually takes about one week.

After the auction ends, we’ll send you the details of the winning bidder so they can arrange to collect and clear the items from your space directly.

Step 3: If the Auction Isn’t Successful

If the auction does not result in a successful bidder, we have partnerships with third-party removal companies who can assist in clearing the items for you.

However, please be aware that Stashbee only covers removal costs up to £250. If the cost of removal exceeds this amount, we’re unable to cover the additional fees.

Important Tip: Always Take a Deposit

To help protect yourself against situations like this, we strongly recommend requiring a sizeable deposit on all bookings. If you’re unsure how to manage deposits or would like help setting one up, just get in touch—we’re here to help.
