Advice for Renters who have received a letter from DCBL

Updated over 2 months ago

DCBL (Debt Collection Bailiffs Limited) are our official debt collection partner. They are responsible for pursuing overdue payments that we are unable to recover through our own internal collection efforts.

1. What Happens When Your Debt Is Passed to DCBL?

Once we have exhausted our own attempts to collect the debt, the account will be handed over to DCBL for further action. At this point, DCBL will add their own fees to the outstanding balance. The debt recovery process may include phone calls, letters, and emails from DCBL.

2. Why Are You Receiving Contact from DCBL?

If you have received a letter, email, or phone call from DCBL, it means you have an overdue payment related to a previous booking with Stashbee. You may have already received several reminders from Stashbee through letters, emails, and SMS messages, but the debt remains unpaid.

3. Additional Fees from DCBL

DCBL charges an additional fee of £75 + VAT for their debt collection services. This fee will be added to your outstanding balance once DCBL takes over the case.

4. What You Need to Do

We strongly recommend that you contact DCBL as soon as possible to arrange payment and avoid further complications, such as court action. Please note, once your case is with DCBL, Stashbee can no longer assist in resolving or canceling the debt.

We strongly recommend contacting DCBL ASAP to resolve the overdue payments - 0203 434 0423.

5. Payment Process

You can no longer make payments directly to Stashbee once your case has been passed to DCBL. All payments must be made directly to DCBL. You can contact them to discuss payment options and to settle your outstanding balance.

6. Documents and Invoices

DCBL will have access to all relevant invoices and contracts associated with the debt. If any information is missing or unclear, DCBL will reach out to us for clarification.

7. The Final Stages – Court Action

If DCBL's collection efforts are unsuccessful, they will send a final letter from DCB Legal, warning that court action is imminent. If no payment is made after this warning, the debt may be taken to small claims court, where a County Court Judgment (CCJ) could be issued against you.
